Sports Style With a CAPITAL S!

I, like many of you, I'm sure, am a HUGE sports fan. I enjoy attending sporting events just as much as the next person. Football (NY Football Giants alllll the way), baseball (Proud to be a YANKEE fan), and college basketball (CUSE) are my favorite. However, I will pretty much attend any sporting event and will 100% have a fabulous time (which usually always includes me cheering louder than everyone else, even if I am not a die hard fan...good times). Not to mention, I seriously enjoy putting a game day outfit together (come on, you knew I had to bring it back to fashion somehow). I have said it before, and I will always live by this mantra, everything is a fashion event, including sporting events!

I know that people think it is...well...prissy...to care so much about what to wear to a sporting event. But, you all know, I don't really pay mind to people like that. I wear what I want, and I love every second of putting an outfit together. I mean, clothes, accessories, and SPORTS? Sign me up! Not to mention...what is so wrong about wanting to look Polished (and cute) in the presence of so many sport-loving men? I say, nothing.

My sister visited me last weekend and we caught the Washington Capitals game (helloooo sudden death overtime win...GO CAPS GO!). This was the perfect opportunity for me to share my tips and tricks for a Polished game day outfit!

1.) Colors-Even if you don't have a team shirt/jersey, go for the colors. It is really easy to pair team colors together, and 9/10 you have these pieces in your closet already!

2.) Fit-Just because you love a certain athlete, doesn't mean you have to wear a jersey their size to the game! Don't hide what you've got, ladies!

3.) Function-Don't forget to check the weather! There is nothing worse than being at a tailgate and having to stay by the grill because you forgot gloves in the midst of putting together a cute outfit.

4.) Accessories-Use this opportunity to wear your favorite accessories to Polish the look!

5.) Smile. Sports are meant for entertainment, so, JUST HAVE FUN!

Purse-The Limited (Similar at Target) // Watch-Charming Charlie (Love this one!) // Bracelet-Charming Charlie (Love these from Brina Box!)  // Sweater-J Crew // Monogram Necklace-Etsy // Boots-Guess // Sunglasses-Ray Ban

Say hi to my gorgeous baby sister, Alexis!

The weather was so beautiful! Perfect cardigan weather!

I LOVE having my beautiful sister around!

Thank you for stopping by! You all are the best!

Wintry Brights

When I go to the mall, I GO TO THE MALL--like, every store in the mall.
Although I have my favorites, the ones I loyally stop in and inevitably find a great addition to my wardrobe, I try to at least take a lap in most stores. While taking a stroll through Aeropostale, I found this great sweater for $8!?

January is one of my favorite times to shop. Hello, the S-A-L-E-S. Everything (especially winter items) are on sale, and typically clearance items are an additional % off. Hence, an $8 sweater. In Buffalo, I still have months to sport this beauty. Have you spotted any neon around?

Sweater Aeropostale- similar here and here // Denim Express // Necklace here  //
Bag Francesca's Collection // Shoes Express-in stores for $12!  Crushing on these from Sole Society or THESE //

Wearing a neon color, especially around your face, can present some challenges. Avoid the highlighter look by leaving your hair down and adding some dark contrasting colors. Don't be afraid to mix your neon with other colors--here, the cobalt blue helps tame and accentuate the neon color.

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what you think :)

{Not Too} Casual Friday

First, let's talk about what causal is NOT--casual does not mean sloppy. Or lazy, messy, dirty, undone, mismatched, or, the most overly misused word, "comfortable"--basically... casual does not mean UNPolished.

So, to begin we are banning all yoga pants, sweatshirts, and gym sneakers from Casual Friday attire. Also, add logo or print t-shirts and hoodies (especially, ones that look like are your husband's) and, must I add... pajama pants to the list. All rules have an exception-a jersey, for example. If you are a sports fan and are supporting your local team ON game day, then do it! But, Polish it off with all of the right accessories--which, could be another post.

You may be wondering, what is the definition of Casual Friday?
Causal Friday implies swapping your trousers or pencil skirt for a pair of fit flattering denim, yes to be more "comfortable", but not mistaken for an 'overslept-have no time to get ready employee'. You may kick off the stiletto pumps and opt for a pair of ballet flats or knee high boots. Even, add a bouffant pony tail rather than your well-kept curls. Or, go for a more natural make-up look by losing the glitter eye shadow and using a peachy blush.

Hear me out... Causal Friday attire does differ from your work week basics--just ever so slightly! However, you are still AT WORK, and so is your boss. So, let's dress like it!

Jacket here -- and now on sale! // Top from Express-not sold online but similar here  // Denim here // Necklace from andRuby but also here // Bracelet Old Navy (no jewelry online) and Brina Box // Shoes (obsessed) from Cathy Jean // Bag (old) Olivia and Joy //

What makes a Polished Causal Friday outfit?
A) Heels-I will say it again...they are magical! Instantly, they dress-up any outfit, especially one for the office. Adding a pop of color keeps these beauties "fun" enough for a Casual Friday look, but still work appropriate--just the right height & a closed toe.

B) Blazer-What is more professional than a jacket? A suit jacket is a classic work piece. However, choosing a boxy crop cut **in plaid** makes it work appropriate, while staying trendy.

C) Dark Denim-We all should own our fair share of boyfriend destroyed denim, right? Reserve those for weekends. Dark Denim is the "dressy" denim. Select denim that is dark all-over color, not the white-bleached area around the thighs and bottom.

Seeing a trend... professional and appropriate?! All of these pieces are made for work (heels, jackets, good fitting pants), but have a trendy twist (pop of color, plaid, a bow on a classic heel), making this combination the best way to walk into work on Fridays.

P.S. Don't forget about patterned or colored denim, as these are both great options for a Casual Friday look.
